MSG-2 THE MESSENGER

MSG-2 The Messenger Collage

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]A new client asked me to shoot a video for him at the Pitt Meadows Airport.  The video was to be of a plane taking off with an aerial advertisement banner and they would do a fly-by.  They also wanted some photos and a little bit of video of the crew.  That was pretty much all I knew.

When I arrived at the airport there was a crowd of people and I wondered if this had something to do with the video.  Sure enough it was, about 40 Indian people of all ages from newborn to senior citizens were all there for the video.

I had never done any footage of a flight, but the wife of the pilot had and she told me where to stand and showed me some footage taken from that exact spot.  She gave me directions on when and where the plane would be.  So, I was prepared, thankfully.  The flights went well, 4 fly-bys in all, I got the footage I needed with 2 cameras for coverage.

After the flight is when the interesting things happened.  The crowd of people had been waiting for the flight to be over.  They were all wearing matching shirts to promote MSG-2 The Messenger movie.  They had huge posters they hung off the plane and smaller posters in their hands, and they all formed into a crowd to get photos with the airplane.  Then they put on the MSG-2 The Messenger soundtrack and all danced while I shot video.

At the very end, we shot the scripted part of the video, which was the pilot’s wife and a couple other people standing up with the giant letters and numbers M – S – G – 2.  Then to my surprise, they asked me to hold up the G and be in the video.  It was the Golden Hour by this point, so, I got some nice shots and had fun doing it all.  But, I really had no idea why they wanted this video.

I edited it all together and ended up making 4 versions for them so that they could have 30 second videos for Twitter.  Finally, once it was all done and delivered, I thought, I should Google this movie and see what this is all about.

It turns out that MSG-2 The Messenger is a film created by an Indian saint, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, he is the leader of a spiritual organization, Dera Sacha Sauda.  He makes movies and music and clothes and he has a pretty huge following all over the world.  And, he reaches out through Twitter.  So, the photo collage I created for them had almost 11,000 retweets last time I checked and the video I made that he posted yesterday had over 2,900 retweets overnight.

I have a cameo in the video, I am holding the G.

Pretty cool!  Enjoy![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_empty_space height=”80px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_video title=”MSG-2 The Messenger Movie Promo Video” link=”https://youtu.be/NpVegxpVvyA”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
